MI Administration overview

What the MI Administration tool does, how to access it, and how large jobs are handled.

Written by Erica

The Management Information (MI) Administration tool is used to generate, validate, and submit statutory National Client Caseload Information System (NCCIS) returns from Core+. The returns available depend on which modules are active.

The tool is organised into three areas:

  • Administration: User, role, and configuration setup.

  • General: Top-level Summary.

  • CCIS: NCCIS submissions and Activities.

Configuration settings are recorded directly to the Core+ database, so every change applies to all users.

🤓 Note: Access to MI Administration may require specific permissions. Contact your system administrator if the menu option is not visible.

Available returns

The following returns are available depending on your active modules.

  • NCCIS: The Common Client Information System return, available when the CCIS module is active.

  • Activity Survey: An annual assessment in England where local authorities track the destinations of young people who completed compulsory Year 11 education. The survey takes a snapshot as of 1 November and identifies whether individuals are in education, employment, or apprenticeships, or are classified as Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET).

Open MI Administration

Follow these steps to open the MI Administration tool.

  1. Select MI Administration from the Admin Tools menu. The MI Administration Tool page opens, showing the Priority Updates and submission Progress on the Summary tab.

🤓 Note: Click Open In New Window to open the MI Administration tool in a new window without closing the current page.

Large jobs and the Job Runner

Large operations, such as generating an MI submission or deleting a custom period, are offloaded to the Job Runner service. These run in the background so you can continue working.

To track a large job, select the My Jobs icon on the Quick Links toolbar.
