The Youth Justice Configuration tab is where administrators set up how the YJMIS statutory return is built and submitted to the Youth Justice Board. Use these settings to control the file size of submissions, exclude test records from the count, specify which database fields the MI Administration Tool pulls data from, and manage which outstanding errors appear on the Summary tab. Every change will save directly to the Core+ database and applies to all users. You need administrator access to complete these steps.

Get started
The General section controls the core submission settings for the YJMIS return. Use these options to set the maximum file size for submissions, manage which young people are excluded from the count, and configure the connectivity destination for the return.
On the Configuration page, select the Youth Justice tab.
Maximum Submission Chunk Size
Set and adjust this value if requirements change. The Youth Justice Board currently advises a maximum size of 10 MB.
Young Person Exclusion List
Remove records that should not be counted against the YJMIS submission, for example, test clients.
Enter the Young Person reference number or numbers into the YP Ref field, then click Add. The young person is added to the YP Exclusion list.
To remove a record, click the young person in the list. The Remove Selected button updates to display Remove 1; click it to remove the record.
Click Clear List to remove all records from the YP Exclusion list.
Connectivity Destination ID
Enter the destination ID.
Counting options
Counting options direct the MI Administration Tool to count specific sections of the return from different tables in the database.
Breach Source
Specify which database field the data is returned from: Breach, Intervention Programme Process, or Breach Combined Data.
Foreign System Config
Select which Foreign System links to use following a migration from another system. Click the ellipsis button to display the available options, narrow them using the Search field if required, then use the checkboxes to select the required Foreign System links.
Education, Training, and Employment Status Source
Specify which database field the ETE Status Source data is returned from: CCIS Destinations or YOT Life Events.
📌 Note: CCIS stands for Client Caseload Information System. Youth Offending Team Life Events is an alternative source that depends on your local configuration.
Local cases only
Turn on this toggle to restrict the YJMIS to local cases only. When turned off, all cases are returned in the YJMIS data.
Residence
Specify which database field the Residence data is returned from: YOT Transfers or YOT Case Locality Code.
Priority updates
Select Disable Outstanding YJMIS Errors to control the outstanding errors displayed within the Youth Justice MI on the top-level Summary tab.
Return to the Summary tab
Click Back to return to the Summary tab.
