There are two areas in which the system states that a YP is Deceased.
You can see this on the Basic Details menu item; this field is not always correct.
The way to determine they are Deceased is to use the Deceased menu item and input into the DeathDate field.
Upon saving the screen, there is a list below this field of cascading changes that will take effect throughout the system. These are also listed below:
A new destination will be created to mark the Young Person as deceased.
Young Person's Address and Contact Information Will Be Cleared.
A new data protection record will be created to mark the Young Person as deceased.
Client Warning Marker will be set to Deceased.
Allocated Caseloads Will Be Marked with the deceased reason for leaving as Left Caseload.
Young Person's status will be set to the deceased code specified.
A foreign system link will be created to exclude the Young Person from LRS matches.
If the Young Person is part of the current year's September Guarantee Cohort Tracker, they will be removed from it automatically. A message on the Deceased page confirms this has taken place.
If the Deceased menu item is ticked and has a date present, then the YP is recognised as Deceased. If this has no tick and no Death Date, then they are technically not Deceased according to the system.

⚠️Important: The MI should not return any deceased records.
Should it do so, then there could be an issue with the system recognising they are indeed deceased.
Exclude deceased young persons from a search
The Young Person Search screen includes an Include Deceased checkbox. By default, this checkbox is unchecked, so deceased young persons are excluded from search results. If you need to find deceased records, select the checkbox to include them in your search.
📌 Note: The Include Deceased checkbox needs to be added to the Young Person Search screen via Screen Designer.
